Learn for writing
What’s the matter now?” asked his wife.
(1) The professor is forgetful, so he must have forgotten something when he returned for the third time.
Smith,his wife,his children, his friend.
而his children and his friend只是作了一个简单的出场,还有继续展开的空间。
- 因此可以确定:续文中他“forget”的“人”可以是” his children and his friend”
- Smith forgot which train station he left his children at.
- Smith forgot who was the one who took care of his children.

Reading & Learning are for writing
③句式变换多样的同时,模仿使用“it was not that….but that….”,”so ….that”,分词作伴随状语。
What’s the matter now?” asked his wife.
Smith stood stupefied at the door. He forgot another important thing, but he was afraid to tell his wife directly. Looking at Smith's dodging eyes, his wife seemed to guess that he was hiding something. So she forced him to ask: “tell me the truth quickly, what else have you forgotten?”
1:The hot sun scorched his back. Smith's lips trembled, and sweat soaked his white shirt. After hesitating for a moment, he finally said helplessly, "I forgot which station the child was put in. "While hearing this, the wife was shocked. Their children were so young that they could not find their own way home, and their safety could not be guaranteed.
Fortunately, Smith immediately comforted his wife and told her, "There is no problem with the children's safety, and my friend is taking care of them. " Not surprisingly, after knowing this news, his wife calmed down a little. She supposed that since there was a friend taking care of children, as her husband said, at least their safety can be guaranteed. At the same time, the wife who always made people feel intelligent used her quick wits and urged Smith to call the friend and ask about the station’s location.
2:However, the husband bowed his head and guiltily told his wife that he had forgotten who his friend was.
At that moment, his wife’s emotion was breakdown like a collapsed building. It was not that she got mad, but just she had been at a loss.
