Hello, I am Eunice~
Today I had an online lesson with my American Teacher. We talked about weather change because people in my place (Nantong, Jiangsu)had just experienced 4 seasons in one single 7-day National Holiday. The highest temperature jumped from around 15℃ to 31℃ then dropped to around 20℃ then at the end of the holiday less than 15℃. I was not sure whether we had ridden the weather roller coaster in other years but I was sure that we are having more extreme weather and climate. OK, let’s drop this topic.
We talked about tea beverage, which is his favorite drink. Before the lesson, I checked some basic knowledge and data on tea. It hasn’t come as a surprise when I read about 60% of the tea is grown in China due to the obvious fact tea plays an important role in Chinese people’s daily lives in both ancient and modern China.
My parents are tea farmers; they grow several mu of tea field(Mu is a Chinese size measurement unit; 1 Mu ≈0.0667 hectares ≈666.667 平方米) Tea has been very important source of income for as long as I can recall in my family.
Tea is a traditional Chinese beverage which dated back to almost 5000 years ago. According to legend, in 2732 B.C. Emperor Shen Nung discovered tea when tea leaved was blown into his pot of boiling water and he immediately took great interest in the pleasant smell the brewed tea produced and drank some.
There are various types of tea in China, but generally there're 6 : the green tea, the black tea, the white tea, the Oolong tea, the yellow tea and the dark tea.
After reading an article, I made a mind map as follow. I also list the website of the passage below for your reference.
