Last Sunday evening, while working on my English homework, I encountered some words I didn’t understand. So I took my phone out of my school bag, wanting to look up the words online.
But just then, my mother walked in. She thought I was playing games on my phone, so she looked quite upset.
"Li Hua, what are you doing? Are you playing games on your phone again?" my mother asked angrily.
"No, Mother, look - I'm just using my phone to check some English words online," I explained.
Then my mother took the phone from my hand and checked it herself. Finding that I had indeed been looking up English words, her facial expression relaxed.
"Okay, that's fine," she said. "But please remember to ask my permission first next time you want to use your phone. And try to limit your screen time - that's my advice. What do you think?"
"Yes, Mother, I understand you don't want me addicted to my phone. I'll keep that in mind," I replied, smiling at her.
"That's my good boy," she said, touching my head affectionately and smiling back.
