让你连肝八集的《开端》，好看在哪？

《开端》火爆全网，让不少网友发出“如果有人没看过《开端》我一定会难过”这样的感叹。

这部剧讲述了游戏架构师肖鹤云和在校大学生李诗情在遭遇公交车爆炸后“死而复生”，于公交车出事的时间段内不断经历时间循环，从下车自救到打破隔阂并肩作战，努力阻止爆炸、寻找真相的故事。

剧中两个主人公分别叫肖鹤云和李诗情，这两个名字取自“晴空一鹤排云上，便引诗情到碧霄”，很有诗意。不过我第一次看到“肖鹤云”这个名字时，以为是德云社某个“鹤”字辈的相声演员...

目前主流外媒还没有报道，我从mydramalist.com找到了一段介绍，语言很简单，我们一起看一下：

这段话高度概括了剧情内容，两个关键词：

1. are caught in a time loop 陷入时间循环；
2. put a stop to it 阻止爆炸。

 

loop 指“环、圈”，看两个例句：

The road went in a huge loop around the lake. 

那条路环湖绕了一个大圈。 

He tied a loop of rope around his arm. 

他在手臂上用绳子系了一个圈。

我们也可以用 be in the loop 表示“圈内人士、局内人”，用 be out of the loop 表示“圈外人士、局外人”

 

此外 loop 也可以作动词，表示“绕圈、绕成环”，英国作家扶霞在她的美食著作《鱼翅与花椒》中描述过做兰州拉面的场景，里面就用到了这个词：

At another stall, young men in embroidered caps pulled noodle dough into lengths that they swung and looped in the air, stretching it into strands as fine and even as spaghetti.

在另一个小摊上，戴着绣花帽的年轻男子把面团拉成细长的形状，然后在空中挥舞、打转，把面拉成细丝，像意大利面一样细微、平滑。

noodle dough 指“面团”，swing 是“摇荡”的意思，strand 指“细丝”，fine 和 even 在这里都是熟词僻义，作形容词，分别表示“细微的”和“平的、平滑的”。

肖鹤云和李诗情是两个普通人，他们在公交车爆炸后经历了一个离奇的循环，然后不得不持续为自己的生命而战。

这句话的逻辑有点绕，先看第一部分：Xiao He Yun and Li Shi Qing are two ordinary people forced to fight for their lives repeatedly

forced to fight for their lives repeatedly是V-ed形式的后置定语，修饰people，还原成定语从句的形式是：people who were forced to fight for their lives repeatedly.

 

repeatedly 指“反复地、持续地”，相当于 many times，畅销原版书《你当像鸟飞往你的山》中就出现过这个词：

I did have to be told, and told repeatedly, to leave my muddy shoes by the door.

我确实被一再提醒的就是，一定要把沾满泥巴的鞋子放到门边。

 

《鱼翅与花椒》中有段话描述了中国人春节祭拜祖先的场景，里面也用到了这个词：

They knelt on the ground, burning paper money and incense, kowtowing repeatedly, pouring libations of strong grain liquor into the earth.

他们跪在地上，敬香、烧纸钱、不停地磕头，把高度的高粱酒倒进土里。

libation：祭酒

文中 fight for their lives repeatedly 的意思是：不断为自己的生命而战。

 

我们再来看第二部分：following a bizarre cycle

following 点明了时间顺序：前者跟着后者，即后者先发生，前者后发生。

a bizarre cycle 指的就是“时间循环”，cycle 是 loop 的同义替换。

bizarre 是 weird 的意思，它比 strange 的程度更强，《了不起的盖茨比》(The Great Gatsby) 第三章中就出现过这个用法：

Fifty feet from the door a dozen headlights illuminated a bizarre and tumultuous scene.

门外五十英尺开外的地方，十几盏车灯照出了一个怪异喧嚣的场景。

回到文中来，根据following我们可以看出，a bizarre cycle先发生，forced to fight for their lives repeatedly后发生。

 

再看第三部分：that occurred after a bus explosion.

这是a bizarre cycle的定语从句，交代了“循环”的发生时间：循环发生在一起公交车爆炸后。

我们把这三部分按照时间顺序从早到晚排序：

公交车爆炸→循环发生→为生命而战。

翻译时，只要把这层逻辑体现出来就行，不必拘泥于原文结构：

肖鹤云和李诗情是两个普通人，他们在公交车爆炸后经历了一个离奇的循环，然后不得不持续为自己的生命而战。

The truth is hidden in layers of mist, but justice will ultimately prevail.

真相被层层迷雾所掩盖，但正义终将获胜。

mist 是“迷雾、薄雾”的意思，可以和 fog 替换。mist 既可以指客观存在的迷雾，也可以比喻遮盖真相的迷雾，看个例句：

The real reasons for the war are now lost in the mists of time.

那场战争爆发的真正起因现在已随着时间的推移而被人遗忘了。

 

prevail 的英文解释是：if a person, idea, or principle prevails in a fight, argument etc, they are successful in the end “获胜”，既可以指人、队伍的获胜，也可以表示观点、习俗、现象“流行、普及”。

毛姆的小说《月亮与六便士》中就出现过这个用法：

The dear soul thought she was doing a wonderful thing for me when she made me an artist, but perhaps, after all, it would have been better for me if my father's will had prevailed and I were now but an honest carpenter.

我那可怜的母亲认为她把我培养成一个艺术家是干了一件了不起的事，但是说不定要是父亲的想法得以实现，我如今只不过是个老老实实的木匠，对我说来倒更好一些。

will在这里是名词“意愿”。

 

再比如李总理在2015年世界经济论坛的讲话中说过这么一句话：

让文明理性正义之花开遍世界

外交部的译文是：...so that the achievements and benefits of civilization such as reason and justice will prevail.

“让文明理性正义之花开遍世界”其实表达的就是“让文明理性正义占主导地位”“让文明理性正义更加普及”的含义，所以用的是 prevail，而没有采取直译的方式 the flowers of... will blossom across the world.

这部剧天马行空，但剧情和人物动机十分符合真实生活的情况和逻辑，每个人的故事都回应着社会热点话题，每个人的遭遇、挣扎，都会真切地出现在现实生活中，很容易引发共鸣，也许这就是《开端》能够成为爆款的原因吧。
