很多同学经过自己的努力，提高了学术语言成绩，但是不巧的是，离最终的语言成绩要求就差一点点，这时候可以考虑跟自己的梦想学校去argue语言成绩。

通过我自己的学生给我的反馈就可以看出来，不同学校对于argue的态度也是不尽相同。谢菲尔德和爱丁堡基本没有argue成功的案例。

一般对于语言分数要求，如果是PTE考试，针对单项差一点，但是总分达到的情况或者是总分差一点，单项都达到学校要求下，argue成功的希望是比较大的(这是因为很多英国高校设置的PTE要求并不是标准换算分数，往往比雅思的标准换算分数多1-2分，下面的模板会给出官方换算表格)。

如果是单项和小分都没有达到学校要求，argue基本是失败的。如果是时间上推迟了一点也是有成功的希望，并且越靠近deadline学校的态度可能越宽容（也许是没有招满）。但是如果是雅思考试，差0.5分基本没有成功的可能性。在这里强烈推荐大家参加PTE语言考试而不是雅思！！！

My name is XX, and my application number is XX. It is a great honor for me to get a chance to study in the XX since xxx is always my dream university.

A few months ago, I was required to achieve xxx for overall performance and xxx for each section in the PTE Academic Exam (PTE). To pursuit and realize my dream, I tried very hard to achieve the language requirement. I spent almost all days on the practice of language skills instead of staying with my family and friends. Thanks to God, I finally improved my score from xxx to xxx (根据自己的情况可改) and I felt a sense of achievement because my hardworking has been rewarded.

Unfortunately, in the last time I took PTE, I scored xxx in the speaking section (根据自己的情况可改) though my overall score has satisfied the requirement. The problem is, before the pre-sessional English Courses, I have no chance to prove my spoken English in another PTE, rendering me in such a paradox. Considering the standard global scale of English, IELTS 7.0 equals PTE 65，(根据自己的语言要求可改), so my scores actually passed the standard requirement.

In addition, My exam report indicates that my listening and reading skills（根据自己的情况可改） are very stable, there is no need for me to take lessons concerning these sections. Thus, all that I need is to improve my oral English, and it would be a little unfair for me to take the full language pre-course.

Such is the tough situation I am in, I sincerely request your permission that my condition could be taken into consideration and the restrictions of language proficiency be loosened a bit.
