“茶水亭”“吸烟亭”怎么翻译？

昨天翻到建筑工地上的“茶水亭”，也是一段艰难的查证历程。

新世纪汉英词典^[1]把“茶水”补充完整了：tea or plain boiled water。但有必要把所有信息都放上去吗？仅仅是一个“茶水亭”地名而已，没必要tea or plain boiled water再加个“亭”的英文吧。

后面又想到“茶水亭”就是休息的地方，喝点水坐一坐，补充一下精力，refreshment booth 可不可以？

但又查到refreshment booth更多像是游乐场的小卖店，热狗小吃酸辣粉凉面豆腐脑……啥都卖的那种，也不太合适，有点奢华。

tea-stall 也有点像是有人营业的那种。

而工地里的茶水亭是自助（self-serving）的，然后我找到了这个：

很接近了，但场景还是不太对应。

我想找到的是工地上的这种“茶水亭”：

最开始我想用 booth 的，但booth给人的感觉是这样的：

又想到 kiosk：

工地上怎么可能有这种 booth 和 kiosk，太豪华了吧~

不过“吸烟亭”或许可以翻成 smoking shelter？

后来群里的Z老师提示：water fountain，boiler room。

未必非得是用嘴接才叫fountain，也是可以接水的。

给了新的查证思路，让我把查证中心放在“茶水亭”提供的东西（水）上。

所指概念不对等？

感觉国外是不是没有这个工地茶水棚的概念？直接写drinking water 可以吗？

突然提醒了我，“茶水亭”这样的东西在国外建筑工地有吗？

沿着这个思路我去搜了 construction site layout 仔细看了一些工地平面图，确实没看到有单独水房的。

而下图这个就很接近了：

因为工地环境和直饮水条件限制，很多国外工地直接为工人提供瓶装水。一家公司网站^[2]称美国法律也规定工地需要为工人提供瓶装水。

According to the National Safety Council, an “adequate supply of potable water shall be provided” at all construction sites. This is in place to prevent dehydration and water-born illnesses such as typhoid, cholera, and dysentery.

There are additional requirements surrounding the dispensing of drinking water. For sanitary purposes, a potable water source must be accompanied with either a cup dispenser (with disposable cups) or a spicket from which a person can easily drink without making contact to the mouth. Cups can only be used by one worker, and must be discarded into a trash can.

The Code of Practice: Managing the work environment and facilities^[3] 上也说明工地应该保证工人的饮水条件。有的时候水源条件达不到，则应该提供公共饮用水设施（public drinking water facilities）、瓶装水（bottled water）或盛水容器（containers）。

针对工地上“茶水亭”的实际用途（供工友接水喝水的地方），貌似 water fill station 和 drinking water station 用在这里都说得通了。

最后，我将“茶水亭”暂时翻译成了 drinking water station，“吸烟亭”翻译成了 smoking shelter。
